If your symptoms do not improve after the first few days of flonase therapy, check with your doctor. Never take more than the recommended dose. High doses of steroid medications such as flonase can ca
use a condition known as Cushing's syndrome. Warning signs of this problem include weight gain and changes in the appearance of the face.
If you are being switched from an oral steroid table
t to flonase, you may experience joint pain, muscle pain, weakness, depression, or fatigue while your body adjusts to the absence of steroid tablets and increases its own production of steroids. You m
ay also experience eye inflammation, eczema, arthritis, and nasal inflammation.

Precautions while Using this Medicine
Check with your doctor:
- if signs of a nose, sinus, or throat infection occur.
- if your symptoms do not improve within 7 days (for dexamethasone) or within 3 weeks (for beclomethasone
, budesonide, flunisolide, Flonase, mometasone, or triamcinolone).
- if your condition gets worse.

What special precautions should I follow?
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:
- Glaucoma¡XRare cases of glaucoma have been reported following use of nasal corticosteroids, including nasal Fl

- Herpes simplex (virus) infection of the eye or
- Infections (viral, bacterial, parasitic, or fungal)¡XNasal corticosteroids may cover up the signs of these infections
- Injury to
the nose (recent) or
- Nose surgery (recent) or
- Sores in the nose¡XNasal corticosteroids may prevent proper healing of these conditions
- Tuberculosis (active or history of)¡XNasal co
icosteroids may cover up the signs of this infection or cause it to start up again

How should this medicine be used?
Flonase comes as a solution to inhale through the nose. It is usually inhaled in each nostril once or twice a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or ph
armacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use Flonase exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Flonase needs to be use
d regularly in order to work well. It may take several days for you to get the full benefit of the drug. You should use Flonase every day during the time when you usually have allergy symptoms. Call y
our doctor if your symptoms do not get better or get worse.
